Lake Michigan South of a line from Seul Choix Point to the Mackinac Bridge and North of a line from Charlevoix MI to South Fox Island 5NM offshore... Lake Michigan from Charlevoix to Point Betsie MI 5NM Offshore to mid lake... Norwood MI to 5NM West of Mackinac Bridge including Little Traverse Bay... Point Betsie to Sleeping Bear Point MI... Seul Choix Point to 5NM West of Mackinac Bridge... Sleeping Bear Point to Grand Traverse Light MI... Straits of Mackinac within 5 nm of Mackinac Bridge including Mackinac Island

At 518 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a line of thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Brevort to 6 nm west of Beaver Island to 11 nm east of Point Detour, moving southeast at 15 knots.

Those participating in the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac race should be aware of this incoming storms. Gusty winds and lightning may hit before rain begins.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. close
* WHAT...Actual temperatures of 90 to 95 degrees expected. Heat index values between 97 and 103 expected. Overnight temperatures Monday night will struggle to get below 75 degrees. The hottest conditions are expected away from the immediate lakeshores.

* WHERE...Emmet, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Crawford, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, and Roscommon counties in northern lower Michigan.

* WHEN...From noon Monday to 8 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. close
