FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM EDT MONDAY

* WHAT...Existing water from heavy rainfall last week is routing through the streams, rivers and lakes. Water is gradually receding, but is still flooding low lying areas, creeks, streams, and rivers.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Michigan, including the following counties, Alpena and Presque Isle.

* WHEN...Until 645 PM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1124 AM EDT, Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Alpena, Ossineke, Lachine, Long Rapids, Cathro, Lakewood, Spratt and Devils Lake. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. close
