ELEVATED WILDFIRE DANGER POSSIBLE TUESDAY

Widespread elevated fire danger is anticipated between Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening (9 AM CDT through 7 PM CDT on Tuesday).

Sustained winds between 5 to 15 mph in tandem with increased wind gusts, which are expected to be between 20 to 30 mph with isolated values in excess of 35+ mph in the higher elevations of the Boston and Ouachita Mountains along with continued very dry fuels across the region are the main concerns.

While minimum RH values on Tuesday afternoon will range from 25-45% across the region and remain above critical values, the continued very dry conditions and very dry fuels coupled with increased sustained winds and wind gusts, especially on Tuesday afternoon will make it possible for wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

If a wildfire is observed, report it by dialing 911 or by contacting the Arkansas Department of Agriculture at (800) 468-8834. close
